Thomas Morosini

Thomas Morosini
First Latin patriarch of Constantinople (qq.v.) from 1204-1211. By terms of the Partitio Romaniae (q.v.) the Venetians were able to choose him, which meant that he incurred the hostility of the Greek clergy, the Latin emperor, and the papacy (q.v.). Innocent III (q.v.) protested that his election was uncanonical.
